Southwest Finland

"Together – for sustainable and equitable service and care for all"

I am 67 years old, married, and a proud mother of three adult children and three wonderful grandchildren.
My entire career has been in social and health care, starting as a nurse at the pediatric ICU before moving into leadership roles as a care manager and administrative supervisor for the Hospital District of Southwest Finland.
Over the years, I have worked diligently to improve the welfare of children, young people, and families, and I have been active in the development of the wellbeing services counties both locally and nationally.
Now as a retiree, I see several common denominators between the aging population and children and young people. Currently, I serve as the chair of the Swedish Pensioners' Association of Finland to actively monitor and guide the development of the rights of the elderly population.
Through various positions of trust, I have always had a particular focus on creating a society where everyone, regardless of age or background, has the opportunity to live a fulfilling and dignified life.
The importance of language in healthcare has always held a special place in my work. As an administrative chief nurse and later as a special expert within Varha, I have been involved in developing language programs that strengthen and enable our customers' rights and access to services in their native language. The language programs also serve as knowledge transmitters to increase understanding and benefits of a bilingual Finland.
With my background as a nurse, care manager, and quality developer, I want to actively work for a welfare system that is qualitative, economically sustainable, but at the same time fair and accessible to all. I am driven by a vision of a future where we together build a society where no one is left behind.

Important political topics

High-quality health care

Finland has a high-quality healthcare system, and it is our responsibility to ensure that it remains so in the future. Care pathways and processes must be sustainable and of high quality from preventive, primary to specialized care. We must invest in the competence and well-being of the staff. We must continuously research and develop care. Collaborate across borders both nationally and internationally. The patient is always in focus, and we are attentive to their needs.

Safe elderly care

Our population is aging and has the right to a fulfilling and secure life and should not be treated as a homogeneous group but as individuals with different needs depending on their life situation. Economic security, safe housing, and a functioning social network are everyone's fundamental rights.

Thriving children, adolescents and families

The future of Finland lies in our children and youth. We are obliged to maintain a functioning system that supports families and their rights to daycare, school, and education. Low-threshold services should be easily accessible, and children and youth with special needs should have the opportunity for additional support. Work that prevents exclusion and bullying must be supported. Knowledge on how families can balance positive and negative emotions, how to feel satisfaction with life, and have good social relationships must be taught and prioritized.

If you could give a superpower to your future political leader, what would it be?

The ability to instantly purify the environment and stop climate change.
Invisibility to reveal and combat corruption at all levels.
Time travel to correct historical mistakes and improve the future.
Infinite wisdom to make perfect decisions on all political matters.

I hope that all decision-makers have wisdom, are responsive, and make their decisions that are well-motivated and based on the person, the patient, the client.
