I am a 21-year-old student from Turku with a strong passion for youth work and the opportunity to influence society. I am studying to become a social worker at Novia University of Applied Sciences, with additional qualifications in church education. Previously, I also studied theology for a while at Åbo Akademi. Alongside my studies, I have been working since the end of high school, which has given me valuable experience in both working life and society as a whole.

My interest in decision-making and advocacy grew during my three terms in a Youth Council, where I realized the importance of young people having a voice in matters that involve them.

Important political topics

Thriving children, adolescents and families

The well-being of children, young people, and families is one of the most important foundations of society. When children and young people feel good, have a safe everyday life, and receive the support they need, better conditions are created for learning, development, and a strong future. Families should not have to struggle alone, there must be easily accessible support tailored to different needs.

It is not enough to react only when problems have already arisen, we must also work preventively. Schools, recreational activities, and social services need to collaborate to ensure that no one is left behind. Every child and young person should feel safe, seen, and have the opportunity to grow based on their own circumstances.

When we invest in the well-being of children and young people, we invest in the future. It is an investment we cannot afford to neglect.

Functioning social welfare

A well-functioning social welfare system is the foundation of a fair and prosperous society. If people get the support they need at the right time, we can prevent bigger problems and give more people the chance to live safe and independent lives. No one should have to wait unreasonably long for help, whether it is child protection, care for the elderly or support for people in difficult circumstances.

Social services must be accessible and effective for everyone, regardless of background or where they live. It is not just a question of having sufficient resources, but also of ensuring that services run smoothly and meet people's real needs. Cooperation between different sectors, such as health and social services, must be improved so that no one falls through the cracks.

When social care works well, we build a safer society where people get the right help at the right time. It is a fundamental part of our welfare system that we must protect and strengthen.

Mental Health

Mental health is as important as physical health and should be taken seriously at all ages. No one should have to wait an inappropriate amount of time for help or feel they are fighting a battle alone. There must be low-threshold services and easily accessible support, whether it's for young people struggling with stress and anxiety or older people experiencing loneliness.

We need to invest in both prevention and quick access to care when needed. Schools, workplaces and health services need to work together more effectively to identify problems early and provide the right support. Strengthening mental health is not just about health services - it's about creating a society where no one is left behind and where asking for help is accepted and encouraged.

When we invest in mental health, we strengthen both the individual and society. No one should suffer in silence, and help must be available when it is needed.
