"For a Turku where young people thrive, learn, and build their future!"
I am a 21-year-old student from Turku with a strong passion for youth work and the opportunity to influence society. I am studying to become a social worker at Novia University of Applied Sciences, with additional qualifications in church education. Previously, I also studied theology for a while at Åbo Akademi. Alongside my studies, I have been working since the end of high school, which has given me valuable experience in both working life and society as a whole.
My interest in decision-making and advocacy grew during my three terms in a Youth Council, where I realized the importance of young people having a voice in their hometown. I want to see a Turku where young people and students not only thrive but also have the opportunity to shape their own future.
Important political topics
Children, Youth, and Families
If we want the future to look bright, we must ensure that children and young people feel well, receive the support they need, and have opportunities to grow and develop.
All young people have the right to a safe upbringing, meaningful leisure activities, and the chance to build their future, regardless of their family background. That is why we must invest in families with children and ensure they have the necessary support to promote both well-being and prosperity.
We need to actively work to provide young people with the resources they need to succeed in school, working life, and beyond. A society that invests in children, youth, and families is investing in a sustainable and better future for everyone.
The best schools
Education is one of the most important factors in giving young people the opportunity to shape their own future. A school should not only provide knowledge but also create an environment where students feel safe, motivated, and able to develop based on their own strengths and needs.
For schools to truly be places of learning, we must highlight the roles of both students and teachers. Teachers should have the best possible conditions to teach, and students should experience school days filled with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful learning. Schools must prepare young people for the future—not just by providing factual knowledge but also by strengthening their ability to think critically, collaborate, and solve problems.
Education is not just about passing exams and earning grades. It is about giving every student the opportunity to grow and find their own path in life, regardless of their background. That is why we must ensure that schools work for everyone and that every young person feels that their future starts here and now.
Sustainable and attractive planning
Sustainable and attractive planning means creating environments where people want and can live, both now and in the future. It is not enough to simply build new structures, we must also think long-term about how we use our resources, preserve green spaces and ensure that communities are accessible and functional for everyone.
Residential areas must be planned carefully, ensuring a balance between housing, services, public transport and recreational opportunities. We also need to invest in sustainable solutions that reduce climate impact and make it easier for people to choose environmentally friendly options in everyday life.
Thoughtful planning not only creates a sustainable future, but also pleasant and safe environments where people want to live, work and spend time. It is an investment in both quality of life and future generations.
