Parainen – Finland’s largest and most beautiful archipelago town
Parainen consists of 11,000 islands, of which the five main islands are Parainen, Nauvo, Houtskari, Korppoo and Iniö. Around 15,000 inhabitants live here.
The city has a rich community life and offers many leisure activities. Parainen is home to around 1,500 companies and our schools have been ranked as the best in the country.
Out of all 57 regional cities in Finland, Parainen was ranked third best among viable cities.
Bilingualism is a natural part of everyday life in Parainen. In many contexts, everyone speaks their mother tongue, and everyone understands each other. The official language of the city administration is Swedish.
