"People in focus! Despite AI"
Dear all. I am Jenny Mäkinen, 49, and I am running as a candidate for the municipal council in Kirkkonummi. I have had the privilege of both living and previously working in this municipality, even though I now work internationally with the European leader in pharmaceutical wholesale, pharmacy retail, and services for the pharmaceutical industry. We collaborate with 29 countries for a better tomorrow! Sometimes, having a broader perspective on societies from other countries can be beneficial when working locally.
During my time in Kirkkonummi and as a deputy councilor in the current term, I have witnessed our municipality grow and change, and I am determined to contribute to positive development that benefits all residents.
Education: Pharmacist and a degree in Business Administration
My family: Spouse, 2 adult children, and 2 dogs
Important political topics
Thriving citizens
Together, we can build a community where well-being is the number one focus.
Improving the well-being in our community is a matter close to my heart, and I believe it requires a holistic approach where we focus on both physical and mental health.
As a development manager, I work intensively to ensure and improve availability of pharmaceuticals, partly by using AI. I truly think, we need to accept that also new technologies must be in use to reach the goals more efficiently.
By focusing on innovation and collaboration we can meet the growing needs of our community and ensure services to everyone, both physically and digitally.
Children, Youth, and Families
As a current deputy councilor, I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all children, young people, and families, regardless of gender, country of origin, or language. To promote their well-being, I want to work to ensure equal access to education and healthcare, as well as provide language support and culturally adapted services.
I believe that we can create a future where every child and young person has the opportunity to thrive and where families feel safe and included.
Municipal and urban vitality
We must support local businesses and entrepreneurs by creating a favorable business climate and providing resources for innovation and growth. This includes facilitating collaborations between the business sector, educational institutions, and the municipality.
A strong community is the core of a vibrant municipality. By promoting cultural and social activities, we can strengthen the bonds between residents and create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
We should also ensure that there is access to quality education and healthcare for everyone.

In Kirkkonummi, it is important to promote the attractiveness of new residential areas or business establishments, even if it comes at the expense of nature.
We should be able to plan and develop new residential areas and business establishments using new technologies, innovative and creative green opportunities. In fact, we have no other options!

The West Rail between Espoo and Salo should be implemented, even if it means that Kirkkonummi must finance part of it.
We should improve the Coastal Railway line and not fund an entirely new Western Railway line, given the current economic situation.

In Kirkkonummi, it is better to save money by cutting down on the service network for residents rather than reducing municipal staff.
Always a difficult question. But when considering essential service networks, it may be necessary to cut back on resources. Unfortunately.

Early childhood education should be free for everyone.
Yes, indeed. It would be a worthwhile investment for the future.
5 / 14
Schools should prioritize traditional textbooks over digital learning materials.
Versatile learning materials, both books and digital resources, would be beneficial.

One of the municipality’s most important tasks is to invest in sports facilities and opportunities for exercise and recreation.
Sports, athletics, and mobility should be supported as part of the well-being of the residents in Kirkkonummi.
7 / 14
It is important to provide all residents with equal opportunities for cultural activities.
Culture - YES! In every possible way.

The municipality should introduce or improve opportunities for residents to influence how municipal funds are used through participatory budgeting.
Yes, of course, BUT the fact is that a resident who is not familiar with the overall budgeting cannot always know the reason why the proposed changes might not be possible. An important aspect of participatory budgeting is to inform about the reasoning behind the budgeting after it has been finalized.

The municipality should invest in public transportation.
We lack the cross-traffic that is needed between Kirkkonummi and Jorvi Hospital, as well as bus routes to different parts of Espoo. Additionally, more trains should stop in Kirkkonummi.

It should be possible to be a resident in more than one municipality, for example, through digital municipal citizenship.
If one owns property in another municipality, I believe there should be an opportunity to influence through digital municipal citizenship.

The municipality should better facilitate the expansion of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.
We do not have other choises.

The municipality should mix more housing types in planning than is currently the case.
By mixing housing types, we simultaneously create areas that reflect the municipality\'s demographic structure.
13 / 14
The municipality should introduce anonymous recruitment.
Our officials should be so fair and knowledgeable that anonymous recruitment is not necessary.

If you could give a superpower to your future political leader, what would it be?
A perfect leader would be able to see into the future and make decisions based on data and empathy.
