Johanna Borg

"With courage, for people"

Politics should be done for people and with courage.

Politics is teamwork, especially in the European parliament.

Working togheter makes much more possible.

I am a registered nurse and chair of the city council in Närpes. This spring I will finnish my master studies in caring science with a major in leadership. I will also become an advanced practice nurse.

I am member of the board of the regional council of Ostrobothnia and vice chair of the council of the welfare county.

I am a mother to four and we spend much of our free time spend outside. Hunting, outdoorlife and art are my biggest interests.

I want to work for a European Union that is strong in key questions; peace, freedom and human rights but keeps away from detail management in other issues.

Important political topics

For a locally sourced and fair Europe

believe in providing fair conditions to our producers and strengthening the connection between producer and consumer. When we talk about food, it’s not just about what ends up on the plate but also about how it gets there. Big food chains should not dominate the market and impoverish our producers. We need to create opportunities for locally sourced food and reduce dependence on processed food. I will work to increase visibility and sales opportunities for our small producers, focusing on consumer needs and desires. Unlike many other goods, food is a human right.

Avoid excessive micromanagement from the EU

It’s time for the EU to stop micromanaging and instead focus on creating overarching frameworks for policies. Bureaucracy must be reduced, and we need to make room for people to take responsibility for their local environment and community. I will fight for EU directives to be implemented effectively without excessive interpretation by national authorities. We also need to review how decisions affect different regions and ensure that countries have more autonomy to influence their own policies.

Human rights, security, and cooperation

Stability, Nordic cooperation, and collective defense are fundamental to our region. In a world where conflicts and threats to peace are all too common, it’s important for the EU to take a clear and unified stance. The war in Ukraine is an example where the EU must act cohesively to promote peace and security. We must also continue to uphold human rights and democratic principles, both within and outside the EU’s borders.

All people are born free and equal, and the polarization we see today is a serious threat to stability in Europe. That’s why this election is important. We must strive to build bridges instead of creating divisions. Protecting human rights and promoting a common refugee and asylum policy are central to creating a more inclusive and solidarity-based Europe.

When it comes to aid policy, we must ensure that it truly benefits both the donor and the recipient. Demands for performance and transparency are crucial to ensuring efficiency and fairness.

We must encourage innovation and research, even in rural areas. Innovation is not limited to one focus or area.

It is necessary for the EU to address defense and security policy issues because many of the international community\\\'s countries are also at least partially affected by the instability prevailing in the world.

Energy and Sustainability: "The EU should prioritize the transition to renewable energy sources, even if it may mean higher energy prices in the short term."

Higher energy prices risk weakening and delaying the transition as the population cannot afford to adopt renewable sources, such as expensive vehicles.

Agriculture in general, and also small-scale units, should be profitable; it benefits the entire society - food is a human right and not something we can do without. However, unnecessary bureaucracy in agriculture must not increase, but rather be reduced..

If you could give a superpower to your future political leader, what would it be?

The ability to instantly purify the environment and stop climate change.
Invisibility to reveal and combat corruption at all levels.
Time travel to correct historical mistakes and improve the future.
Infinite wisdom to make perfect decisions on all political matters.

Justice is a very important cornerstone.
