"Safe care for the elderly."
Hello and thank you for visiting my page. I am a mother of three and a nurse, passionate about issues affecting the vulnerable in society. I have lived my whole life with Tourette's syndrome, but I won't let it stop me. I work with elderly people. In my job, I see how healthcare is changing and I have gained an understanding of what needs to be done to build a better and more functioning welfare area. I am new to politics, but that doesn't mean I'm afraid to question the way things are done. Originally, I am from Jakobstad/Pietarsaari, but I have lived in several other places in my life. I have now lived in Turku for 18 years.
My family includes my husband and Emma the corgi.
Important political topics
Safe elderly care
We're living in a a society where the population is aging and they have the right care and support both at home and in hospitals. For those who cannot manage at home, we need more places in service housing - the trend right now is going in the opposite direction. It is not right that those who have helped build our society, cannot make their voices heard and are the ones who lose in the welfare area. The waiting lists for care are long and the pressure on the emergency services in Turku is high. This also leads to overload in the various wards and departments where the continued care takes place. We must dare to work on these difficult issues and create more places as well as ensure that the caregivers can manage their jobs.
Accessible health care
A lot of money has been invested in going private via public healthcare, but only one percent use or have used this. Instead, the money needs to be given to nurses and patients in the wellbeing services county, so that we can continue to develop salaries and to resources and materials in hospitals. We are in difficult times with major changes and savings, but there are ways to manage the money correctly.
