"Children, youths and swiminghalls ! More opportunities for growth and success for the younger generation. Water gives power and energy, a new swimming hall to Turku."
I am originally from Helsinki, but I lived in Kaskinen, Ostrobothnia, for over 30 years. I have four adult children and five grandchildren. Some of them live here in Turku, which was the reason I moved to Turku about three years ago.
I work as a youth worker at the Swedish-speaking Youth Center Pastell. Previously, I worked as a youth and sports secretary for the city of Kaskinen for over 30 years. I am well-versed in municipal administration as well as youth work.
While living in Kaskinen, I was a member of the local RKP association for many years. I was also a full member of the RKP Ostrobothnia district board from 2016 to 2018 and a full member of the RKP party council from 2017 to 2021. Additionally, I was a board member of the Coastal Ostrobothnia social and primary healthcare municipal from 2017 to 2021.
In my free time, I go swimming and attend water aerobics once a week. In the summer, I enjoy swimming at Samppalinna and Saaronniemi beach. I also have a garden plot where I enjoy growing my own plants and vegetables—it’s rewarding to see things flourish and spend time outdoors in the summer.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH
The well-being of children and young people is important because they are our future. That’s why it is crucial to invest in them and ensure that all young people have good starting points in life and a meaningful daily routine. Every young person should have reliable and safe adults in their lives. The city should invest in both Finnish- and Swedish-language youth work in their native languages and provide young people with comfortable youth centers. In youth work, I also consider it important that young people experience joy and a sense of achievement in activities.
It is also essential to provide timely therapy and other services in their own native language. More resources to outreach youth work.

WELL-BEING FOR ALL
The city of Turku has very well-organized sports services. However, the swimming halls are currently seeing a very high number of visitors. The Petrelius swimming hall is nearing the end of its lifespan. It is important to start the rapid construction of a new swimming hall in the next council term. The Samppalinna outdoor swimming pool should also remain open throughout September.
