Sipoo
"For the good of the inhabitants in Sipoo with knowledge and experience"
I am 60 years old, married to my wife Elina and have two adult sons. I was born and raised in Sibbo. I have a master's degree in political science and a bachelors degree in public administration. I work as a Chief Specialist at Traficom with regulation of telecommunications. In my spare time I play basketball, do fitness training, write and research history. I am a member of the municipal council, vice-chairman of the building and environment committee and a substitute in the environmental health section. I have been awarded Sipoo municipality's culture prize in 2020. I am also chairman of Hukkabasket and have been chairman of Sibbo-Vargarna's track and field section.
Important political topics
Children, Youth, and Families
The most important thing is that the residents feel good both physically and mentally and that they enjoy living in Sipoo. The municipality must offer high-quality childcare and schools and create conditions for leisure activities. Sipoo needs its own indoor swimming pool. I will also work for the preservation of village schools and the construction of Söderkulla school. In my opinion, too much of tax money has been used to build new residential areas to attract new residents to Sipoo instead of improving the welfare of current residents.
Housing and Construction
Maintaining the vitality of the villages and securing the future of the village schools in Sipoo largely depends on enabling construction of detached houses. The building and environment committee has promoted construction during this council period. I have made more than 50 counter-proposals that enabled construction in the villages.
Sustainable and attractive planning
Moderate growth is good if it is under control. Too rapid growth must not impair the quality of life and nature in Sipoo. The residents' opinions should be better taken into account in planning. The planning of the Nickby estate area has been particularly problematic. I voted against the plan NG8. Detailed planning and implementation of new residential areas puts a significant burden on the municipality's finances. The municipality shall not take on debt to implement new residential areas.
I want to improve the service range of both municipal and commercial services. Sipoo needs better communications and more shops. My motion and budget proposal on the construction fiber networks enables fiber network connections to 1,500 households. During the next council term, passenger train traffic between Nikkilä and Kerava can be resumed on the current KeNi-rail without major investments. In addition, bus connections to Porvoo should be improved. On the other hand, I oppose the Itärata railway, which would destroy both housing and nature.

Sibbo needs its own swimming hall.
Sipoo is one of the largest municipalities in Finland without a indoor swimming pool. A swimming pool would increase the well-being and improve the residents\' swimming skills and fitness. It is possible to build a swimming pool with moderate costs. The swimming pool in Mustasaari cost only 7.5 million euros.

The East Rail would cause significant disruption to Sibbo's landscape and nature, and therefore the municipality should oppose the project, even if it could benefit public transport.
Itärata would destroy large areas in Sipoo. Both residential buildings and nature would be destroyed. Passenger train traffic can be carried out on the existing KeNi-railway.

The Swedish village schools in Sibbo should be preserved, even if it means higher costs per student compared to larger schools in central areas.
4 / 14
Early childhood education should be free for everyone.
5 / 14
Schools should prioritize traditional textbooks over digital learning materials.
6 / 14
One of the municipality’s most important tasks is to invest in sports facilities and opportunities for exercise and recreation.
7 / 14
It is important to provide all residents with equal opportunities for cultural activities.
8 / 14
The municipality should introduce or improve opportunities for residents to influence how municipal funds are used through participatory budgeting.
9 / 14
The municipality should invest in public transportation.
It is important to have a functioning public transport, but it should be organized efficiently. At the moment, Sipoo is paying too much to HSL for inadequate services.
10 / 14
It should be possible to be a resident in more than one municipality, for example, through digital municipal citizenship.
11 / 14
The municipality should better facilitate the expansion of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.
Expansion of solar power should be enabled, but wind power is not suitable in all areas.
12 / 14
The municipality should mix more housing types in planning than is currently the case.
Sipoo should prioritize the construction of single family detached houses for the sake of comfort. Sipoo is not a city. There is currently no need for new high-rise building areas.
13 / 14
The municipality should introduce anonymous recruitment.
