Espoo

"Espoo should be a city where nature is closeby. Espoo should also in the future have cosy residential areas, good schools and a prosperous life. I want Espoo to be a city where everyone feels welcome. "

I am a 30-year-old lawyer and city councillor. I grew up in Olari and Matinkylä, and nowadays live in Haukilahti. The need to improve the elderly care was initially my reason for joining local politics a few years ago. In addition to health care, environmental issues are also important for me as a decision maker. I work to preserve pleasant local environments in Espoo and generally work for a more sustainable society.

Important political topics

Thriving citizens

The city should support the well-being of its residents and encourage active lifestyles. Employment and a safe everyday life contribute to wellbeing. Espoo should create favourable conditions for the well-being of both young people and the elderly. The city contributes to the wellbeing of young people by, for example, offering diverse leisure activities and ensuring sufficient school psychologist services in co-operation with the Länsi-Uusimaa County. The loneliness of the elderly should be combatted, for example, by supporting associations and voluntary activities for the elderly.

The best schools

Schools should give everyone equal opportunities to succeed in life. The school path must be functional from daycare to upper secondary school. Particular attention must be paid to improving pupils' ability to concentrate and to providing pupils with good skills in the basic subjects. Class sizes must not grow, and children who need extra support must be able to get it. We cannot afford to cut back on education.

Forerunners in climate and the environment

We must be better at utilising Espoo's strengths: its proximity to nature and its pleasant residential areas. Sustainability must be a guiding principle in Espoo. It must be easy for Espoo residents to make climate-friendly choices in their everyday lives. Espoo should also have more extensive public transport and good cycle paths. The city should encourage sustainable energy choices and waste sorting.

If you could give a superpower to your future political leader, what would it be?

The ability to instantly purify the environment and stop climate change.
Invisibility to reveal and combat corruption at all levels.
