"Our welfare depends of a good economy. We must support and take care of our companies. "
I started my studies for the master’s degree in science at the University of Helsinki 1961. I performed studies in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. After the examination I got a position for postgraduate studies at my university. I earned my PhD in 1972 and became an Associate Professor in 1974.
During all my career I have performed teaching at the university level, and I have been involved in research work in physics. The research in science is very international and consequently I have been involved in international exchange programs. I have worked in longer periods in Sweden and shorter in Denmark, England, and France. I was also a member of the bord of the University of Helsinki för 12 years.
Due to my achieved experience in research I think that I can deal with the planning and purchasing in the administration of the City of Helsinki. I have also been involved in teaching and environment administration in the City of Helsinki.
I am actively following the discussions in our society, and I enjoy walks in the countryside and outdoor work at my country house.

Housing and Construction
The city planning in Helsinki must take care of the exciting environment and consider the needs of the inhabitants and financial life. In early years we have seen that old buildings have been destroyed and replaced with new ones which not fit very well to the neighboring buildings. We must take care of our culture and architecture.
It is important to fit the apartment and living environment to elderly people. All of us want to stay in our homes as long as possible or in homelike apartments. The city of Helsinki must develop such apartments as a complement to living in your own home and full-service living.
Thriving citizens
Our society takes care of our healthcare. It is important to have effective primary healthcare. With preventing healthcare, we can often avoid care in the much more expensive special medical care. We must develop the system with house doctors and nursing team. The care is better and more effective when the patient und the personnel know each other. With qualitative leadership we may guarantee the access and well-being of the personnel.
The inhabitants I Finland are aging. The forecast for positive aging is good physical and psychical condition and a social life. We must support the elderly to have a safe and active life including involvement and influence in society. The elderly have both knowledge and experience, and they are thus a big access to society.
The work of the personnel in the health care is getting more effective through the improvement of AI and digital development. The health stations must consider that all citizens don’t have digital tools or the competence to use them. Alternative channels for digital communication with the health stations must be available.
