"For an Equal and Thriving Helsinki – Mental Health, Equality, and Culture in Focus"

My name is Sofia, I am 37 years old. I work in a leadership position at the Finnish national theatre performing in Swedish.
I have over 20 years of experience in the cultural field, where I have created culture for children, young people, and adults.

Even as a child, I was unafraid to address injustices, and that drive has followed me throughout my life. I am ready to fight for marginalized groups and want to be a strong voice for those who are often unheard.

At my workplace, I was entrusted with the role of Equality Representative, which has given me deep insight into the importance of actively working for equality and inclusion. I stand firm in my belief that everyone deserves a fair chance—regardless of their background or life situation.

My drive comes from a deep desire to make society better. I believe in a future where justice and humanity go hand in hand, and I am ready to do whatever it takes to achieve that vision.

By prioritizing mental health, gender equality, and culture, we can build a Helsinki where everyone feels safe, valued, and included. I want to be a strong voice for these issues in municipal politics—to create a fairer and more vibrant city for all of us.

Important political topics

Thriving citizens

One of my key priorities is ensuring that children and young people receive the support they need for a secure future. Children with neuropsychiatric conditions, such as ADHD or autism, often do not get the help they need in time—especially girls, whose symptoms are frequently overlooked because they present differently than in boys. We must make sure that healthcare and schools have the necessary resources and knowledge to support these children early on. At the same time, it should be easier for adults to access help, particularly those who have struggled for years without receiving the right support.

Culture and Leisure

Culture is also a fundamental part of my campaign. Culture is not a luxury but an essential part of a thriving society. Art, music, theatre, and other cultural expressions enrich our lives and strengthen our communities. I want to work for a more inclusive and equal cultural sector, where everyone has the opportunity to both create and experience culture.

Equality and Equity

Equality and gender equity must be at the core of all decision-making. Women’s health has long been neglected, and we need a healthcare system that takes women’s needs seriously—without compromising care for anyone else. Everyone should have equal access to healthcare and support, regardless of gender, background, or life situation.
