"High quality daycare and basic education are an investment in the future, they lay the foundation for a successful and thriving society."
I am 54 years old, married, and I have two adult children. I come from Helsinki but have lived in Nurmijärvi since 1995.
I have a Master’s degree in social services and work as a specialsocialcounselor in the family social services. Before my current job, I worked in a daycare center in Nurmijärvi and in a children's home in Helsinki, so I have a broad and diverse skillset in various social services.
In my work, I encounter people with different needs for support, and I understand how the service system operates, as well as how it should be developed to ensure the quality of life for everyone, despite potential challenges. Smooth cooperation between social and health services is crucial for ensuring comprehensive well-being.
My native language is an important part of my identity. In Keski-Uusimaa, we Swedish-speaking and bilingual individuals are a small but resilient minority. I want to work towards providing high-quality multilingual social and health services.
As for my professional qualities, I would describe myself as efficient and proactive. I do not shy away from tackling difficult issues, I possess excellent interaction skills, and taking others into consideration and respecting them is important to me. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature with our dogs, and at home, I am relaxed and even quite comfort-loving.
My goal is to work for high-quality daycare and a functioning school system in Nurmijärvi. When we develop daycare and schools in Nurmijärvi, we cannot only proceed from financial bases, but we must also review the qualitative objectives.
Important political topics
Children, Youth, and Families
Early childhood lays the foundation for the entire future. We must ensure that all children get a good start in life. As a society, we must ensure that we offer sufficient support for children, young people, and families at a sufficiently early stage; we must invest in preventive, not corrective, activities.
High-quality daycare and primary school are an investment in the future. They lay the foundation for the success and well-being of the individual and of society as a whole. By investing in quality early childhood education and education, we can build a better future for all.
Investments in good daycare are crucial. There, the foundation for children's development and learning is laid at an early age. Good daycare can compensate for different upbringing conditions and circumstances and give all children a good start in life.
It may cost some money to invest in good daycare and schools, but it is money well invested. It pays off in the form of well-educated and competent citizens, which is a requirement for a healthy and successful society.
The best schools
A good primary school gives children the basic knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life, whether it is further studies or work life. It is not just about reading, writing and mathematics, but also about developing critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills.
A high-quality primary school should give all children, regardless of background, the same opportunities to develop and learn. It is a matter of justice and equality.
Thriving citizens
When services are organized and developed, people's needs and wishes should be prioritized. This means that the services must be easily accessible, of high quality and individually adapted.
A comprehensive and flexible range of services is important so that everyone can find alternatives that suit them. It is also important that services are developed in cooperation with those who use them and work for them.
Participation is crucial and significant when talking about well-being. Everyone has the right to be heard and to actively participate in the planning of their own life and well-being. When all these elements are combined, we can create an environment where everyone can live a good and meaningful life.
