Participatory budgeting can be a valuable tool to increase residents\' influence and create a more democratic and transparent municipality. In Parainen, we have already offered residents this opportunity for a couple of years.

By developing innovative and customized transport solutions, municipalities can ensure that all residents, regardless of where they live, have access to basic services. In a scattered municipality like Parainen, this entails significant costs. Could one, for example, utilize ride-sharing services, where residents can share car journeys, or on-demand transport, where buses or taxis run as needed according to a certain schedule? We have already partially tried this. Clarity is important so that residents are aware of the alternatives

I believe we are not ready for this yet. There are too many challenges, such as sufficiently good digital systems to manage population registration, taxes, and other municipal services. What rights and obligations would digital municipal residents have?

The city of Pargas has wind power in its vicinity. Wind power technology is developing rapidly, and producing wind power is becoming increasingly efficient and cost-effective. A study could be done again to find out if it would now be profitable for the city to invest in such projects. It would also reduce the municipality\'s dependence on fossil fuels and thus lower energy costs. Solar power is being utilized more.
