Espoo
I am a local politician from Espoo. I have been a member of the city council since 2017 and the regional council since 2022. I live in Viherlaakso with my teenage son. By profession, I am a nurse and I also have a long career as a swimming instructor.
I have worked for good healthcare and education for our residents. Particularly close to my heart is a safe school where students and teachers thrive. For the past four years, I have been the chairperson of the Svenska rum committee, which is responsible for early childhood education, schools (grades 1-9 and high school), youth work, and Arbis in Swedish. It is important that we ensure that class sizes do not become too large and that there are enough safe adults in our schools.
It is important that we receive the right care at the right time, preferably as close to the resident as possible. We should not privatize public healthcare but should invest in providing the service ourselves. Every resident should be able to contact their health center and also have a designated personal doctor or care team.
Important political topics
The best schools
Espoo should continue to be a leader in education. We need to invest extra in litterature and mathematics.
Group sizes should be reasonable (max 25 students per teaching group) and there should be enough safe adults in daycare and school (e.g., extra daycare assistants and community mentors in schools).
The goal should be that both children and young people, as well as teachers, thrive in our schools. We need to work together (teacher, student, and family) to ensure that our children and young people receive a first-class education and good conditions for further studies.
We should actively prevent bullying, and students who need support for their schooling should receive it.
Thriving citizens
We need to invest in preventive work to ensure the well-being of our residents.
It is important that we offer low-threshold exercise services for all age groups. All children should be able to have a hobby, and adults should be able to exercise at a reasonable price.
Children, Youth, and Families
Our children and young people are our future, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they have the best opportunities.
Families today are often under pressure. Parents need to work and be productive, help their children with school and hobbies, perhaps take care of their own aging parents, and also manage their own well-being.
We need to support our families so they are well - then our children and young people will also feel well.

We should build upwards rather than expand into new areas in Espoo.
In Espoo, we are already building a lot of high-rise buildings along the railway and metro lines. I think it is important that we have different types of housing and various kinds of residential areas. I believe the beauty of Espoo is that there is something for everyone!

Schools should prioritize traditional textbooks over digital learning materials.
In primary school, I think it is important to have traditional textbooks, and our students currently have them. Our students are different and have different needs. In high school, I believe both should be available, traditional textbooks and digital ones, and the student should be able to choose which to use in different subjects.
