"Let us work for a prosperous, well-functioning and inclusive Vörå. Let municipal decisions be characterised by sustainability, empathy and a long-term approach. "
I am a friendly, positive and reflective person with a taste for adventure. I am a biologist and a subject teacher by profession. Music, outdoor activities and travelling are my main interests. I have taken courses in wilderness guiding, hiked the Santiago Trail, hiked through Norway and travelled in all continents. I have been working in secondary school for over ten years. I live in an old cottage in Maxmo, which my father has renovated for us. My family includes three children and two dogs.
Important political topics
Children, Youth, and Families
Everyone is equally valuable and deserves a good and meaningful life. Children, young people and older people should be included in decision-making that affects their daily lives. Municipal resources and savings should be distributed evenly across the population. People who are already vulnerable (poor, sick, people with disabilities) should receive municipal support to live a dignified life.
Forerunners in climate and the environment
Besides the social environment, nature is the most precious thing we have. Nature's resources are infinite if we use them sparingly and wisely. It is important to preserve natural habitats and species, keep nature clean and ecosystems functioning. We must do what we can to minimise the effects of the climate crisis, for our own sake, for the sake of the world's population and for the sake of nature.
Equality and Equity
More love and less fear, we need to build bridges and cultivate a friendly and empathetic approach. Everyone is equal and deserves a voice and a place in our society. At the same time, we need to condemn threats, hatred and harassment. All voices are needed, we need to take a stand against all types of violence. Together we can spread a good community that includes everyone. There is room and there are opportunities to grow and learn from each other.

Early childhood education should be free for everyone.
It is fine as it is. Households with a sufficiently high income pay a reasonable daycare fee. Low-income households have free early childhood education. This means that everyone can afford to have their children in daycare if they wish.

Schools should prioritize traditional textbooks over digital learning materials.
This is my opinion based on my own experience working as a secondary school teacher. But the research also says the same thing. Reading comprehension is noticeably better when using physical books. Learning takes place more easily and it is easier to recall what you have learnt from memory. Turning the page and making reading a more physical activity helps the brain to remember what you have read.

One of the municipality’s most important tasks is to invest in sports facilities and opportunities for exercise and recreation.
This may not be the most important task of a municipality. But it is still important to offer opportunities for exercise and recreation for all residents. A varied range is needed so that there is some form of exercise that suits everyone. It should not be too expensive to exercise and public health work is important, to get as many people as possible to exercise regularly.

It is important to provide all residents with equal opportunities for cultural activities.
Culture is at the heart of society; it sustains our identity, it makes us challenge ourselves and grow as human beings, increases our empathy, entertains us and comforts us. My heart bleeds for the way culture has been neglected in recent years, when we should be celebrating it, valuing it and consuming more culture in all its forms.

The municipality should introduce or improve opportunities for residents to influence how municipal funds are used through participatory budgeting.
It takes a great deal of expertise, both in terms of laws and regulations and in terms of which purposes need money and for what, to draw up a good and fair budget. Few citizens are so well-read and have a good enough overall picture to be able to influence the budget process. Instead, I think more time should be spent visiting and talking to the people and organisations that will be allocated money. You need to be out in the field to understand the real needs. I see this clearly in my job. The people who make the decisions that affect our daily lives in school don\'t know what the situation and the needs are here, because they haven\'t visited the school and seen it with their own eyes.

The municipality should invest in public transportation.
Both residents and the environment would benefit from having more local bus services within the municipality. It would also make municipal services more accessible.

It should be possible to be a resident in more than one municipality, for example, through digital municipal citizenship.
Why not? As a citizen, you should be able to choose for yourself.

The municipality should better facilitate the expansion of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.
Yes, is the short answer. And the municipality has already done so. But, at the same time, it needs to think long-term and take into account the well-being of both residents and nature. What are the implications for large-scale wind energy developments? I wish we could slow down and examine these consequences carefully, both in terms of human health and the impact on nature.

The municipality should mix more housing types in planning than is currently the case.
Yes, integration of people from different cultures and social classes is improved by considering mixed forms of housing in planning.

The municipality should introduce anonymous recruitment.
Yes, it would improve employment opportunities for people who otherwise face prejudice.

If you could give a superpower to your future political leader, what would it be?
One of the greatest sorrows of my life is how we humans are destroying nature and the ability of species to survive. If I had an opportunity to give even a little goodness back to nature, I would.
