I come from Manchester.
Jakobstad has been my adopted hometown for the past 30 years.
It is a great pleasure to be involved in a variety of contexts - in my spare time and in my working time: for instance, choral singing on the one hand; language teaching on the other.
Having a view of and access to a green area by the Old Harbour is relaxing, inspiring - and irresistible for someone like me who enjoys exercising in the fresh air of the woods.
Being close to the water, the woods and the town centre is simply "a great privilege" – and it doesn't cost a penny!
Being able to spend time with friends, meet up with acquaintances and get to know new people in different contexts enriches a highly varied life.
I have a lot to thank Jakobstad for.
So, I believe, it is my turn to give back to Jakobstad...
...as an election candidate to help you enjoy this wonderful community as much as I have done so far.

The best schools
Every child should have the best start in life: a memorable, enriching education.
The ambiance of every school should be safe and welcoming where teachers and pupils can work closely and openly.
A cooked, wholesome meal should be available to everyone during the school day.
One of the most important aspects of Finnish quality of life is the importance of free schooling for all children – from day one.
This privilege must be safeguarded.
Forerunners in climate and the environment
Jakobstad is characterised by green oases.
We should take pride in our healthy, green environment.
Taking care of our open landscape is part of our collective and individual responsibility.
Encouraging people to use bus and coach transport in cities - where possible - would contribute to less congestion and to improving air quality.
I, who do not have/need a car, would like to contribute to planning a preliminary bus network to this end.
Culture and Leisure
Jakobstad is very cosmopolitan:
Observe the wide selection of national and international restaurants we can experience.
The town is a cultural hub for music and art: Novia University is a shining example.
The town is increasingly peppered with cultural events year after year.
So many individuals - regardless of age and background - have enriched our region further with their talents and ideas.
It is important that we continue to strive for an all-inclusive community where everyone can contribute to and participate in an ever developing cultural Jakobstad.
