My name is Simon Hellbom, a high school student and candidate in the 2025 municipal election. Currently, I am also the vice-chairman of Svensk Ungdom, the youth wing of the Swedish People’s Party.
Born and raised in Vaasa, I have always had a strong commitment to community issues. In my free time, I focus on my studies, gym training, hockey, and spending time with friends.
For me, school is the most important issue. It is where we get the tools we need to develop as individuals and shape our own and each other’s future. I want to work for schools where every student feels safe and has the best conditions for success.
As a candidate in the municipal election, I also want to work for a Vasa where we all feel good and have opportunities to move. This means building more sports facilities and creating better conditions for enjoying nature. We also need to make sure we take care of our environment in order to live an active and healthy life.

As someone who grew up in Vaasa, I know how important it is that our schools give young people a solid foundation. We need schools where every student gets the help they need, where they can feel safe and develop at their own pace. By investing in good teachers and providing support for those who need it, we can make sure that all young people in Vaasa have a good chance to succeed and find their way.
Thriving citizens
For me, a good community means that all residents, young and old, should feel good and have opportunities to stay active. We need more investments in sports, leisure activities, and access to nature so that everyone, regardless of background, can find something that suits them. By creating more places for activities and offering more opportunities to be outdoors in nature, we can build a community where we all feel good and thrive.
Municipal and urban vitality
For Vaasa to be a vibrant city, we need to invest in both a great student life and a strong business sector. Students should feel like they have a place in the city, with good housing, activities, and opportunities to develop. At the same time, we must support local businesses and create conditions for new businesses to grow and establish themselves here. By combining an attractive student life with a thriving business environment, we can create a city where both young people and businesses thrive and grow.
